Pretty awesome! Ya think at the 6:40:00 mark that he had the car floored? I'm thinking not... either way, THUMBS UP!

Sounded like he might have left the ground in a few spots. Makes me wonder how many practice laps it takes to memorize that track. Very cool video.

Reminds me of my ride home from work lol! He had me hitting my virtual brake a few times. It's hard to tell what the G's were and what the actual tire grip was, but it must have been alot better than what it looked like hehe.

Did you see how fast it went from 60-178 MPH? That was the most amazing acceleration I ever saw by any car. That ZR1 is in a class all by itself. It has to have a top speed of over 200 MPH and a 1/4 time of low 11's. Makes my Vette look like a 4 door sedan. LOL

Damn, this is one of the best in-car videos I've seen thus far in a 2009 ZR1!

Hi, i have some interesting facts for you: At the time of 1.02 it was Airborne at a Speed of 130 mph at the place we call "Flugplatz", what means airfield( no wonder) To compare: At 1.64 in the "Fuchsröhre"(fox-hole)ZR1 had 160mph, the same as a Porsche Carrera GT had, (which costs 720'000 Dollars!!!)and the 1997 Viper GTS passed the same place with just 137mph! The "Nürburgring Nordschleife"is the most difficult racetrack in the world, up and down with 176 Bends per lap on a distance of 14 miles(one Lap!) I drove some laps with my 1974 Porsche 911 3.0 RS and, beleive me, you need at least 100 laps for knowing this track just a little. No matter if you know it already from Playstationgame "GT3", as I do, with more ththan 1000 laps. The most experienced driver on this track is a woman, Sabine Schmitz, who won as the only woman, until now the 24 hours of the Nürburgring. She did 27'000 real laps on it, she has 39 years. She is born right there and she also does sightseeingracelaps with the Viper GTS or with the BMW M5. On you tube you can find many good inboard videos of the "Ring" Just surch for "Nordschleife" or Sabine Schmitz.

Awesome video! It's interesting to read all the comments by the armchair racecar drivers out there that dispute the time, Jim Mero's driving capability, how fast he should have gone, or how he should have handled the car around a corner, or even how much better the car could have handled if it had "better" tires than the Michelins. I'd like to see all the naysayers out there, get behind the wheel of that car and beat that time without putting it into a wall or launching it into the center of the ring. Regardless of what should or shouldn't have happened, you can't dispute the fact that Jim Mero did a great job and the 2009 ZR1 is one hell of a Corvette!

the car is a truely refined animal and Im proud to say its an American Corvette at its finest,,,However, I must respectfully say that Jim pushed the car way too hard. He lost alot of precious time sliding and drifting, and at one point even got frustrated with himself by throwing his hands up. He has a great line, but the car just didn't stick. If this truly wasn't Jim's fault, then maybe the Development team should reconsider allowing this car to be delivered into the hands of the general unexperienced public if its honestly this unstable and unpredictable on these tires. Lets face it,, those who can afford this car can surely afford great track tires to make it stick. In addition, Jim allowed the rpms to drop below 3k at one point, which is obviously severly outside the powerband.. bottom line is,,, I wholeheardedly believe this car can lap the ring in under 7 min. given the correct recipe of driver & tires. thanks to everyone for the wonderful video,, i enjoyed it alot and wish I could've been there,, Ill drive this car any day to its limits but not beyond :D
